The Central Moon Sighting Committee has called on the public to look for the crescent moon marking the start of the lunar month of Safar after Asr prayers today, Wednesday, in their respective areas.
In a statement, the committee said that observing the new moon is an established Islamic practice and an important religious responsibility for Muslims.
The committee said that anyone who sights the Safar crescent should report to the relevant primary court and the local Moon Sighting Committee to submit their testimony. The court will hear the testimony, conduct the required Sharia verification, and, after completing its assessment, forward the findings to the Central Moon Sighting Committee.
The committee stressed that the final and official announcement on the start of the new lunar month will be issued exclusively by the Central Moon Sighting Committee.
