Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China is ready to mediate in strengthening and expanding relations between India and Pakistan.
Speaking at the ministry’s weekly briefing on Tuesday, she said, “India and Pakistan are both important neighbors of China, and we are working to develop friendly relations with both.”
She added that China hopes the two countries will find appropriate solutions to their issues, and Beijing is ready to play a positive role in this regard—with the consent of both sides.
These remarks come as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited India on Tuesday (August 19) for the first time in a long while.
