According to a report by Anadolu News Agency, Cuba has formally submitted a request to participate in the case filed by South Africa at the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israel, accusing Israel of genocide.
The ICC stated, “Cuba has used Article 63 of the court’s statute to request participation in the case registered by South Africa concerning the prevention and punishment of genocide committed by the Zionist Israel regime in Gaza.”
It is worth noting that in December 2023, South Africa filed a case at the ICC accusing Israel of genocide and war crimes in Gaza. Since then, countries including Nicaragua, Colombia, Libya, Mexico, Spain, and Turkey have also joined the case.
In October 2023, Israel launched an invasion on Gaza in violation of international laws, resulting in the deaths of approximately 46,000 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom were women and children. Over 100,000 people have been injured, and millions others have been displaced from their homes.
