The National Environmental Protection Agency announced that its Director General, Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis, leading a delegation, departed today (Tuesday, Jawza 13) to participate in the 9th Regional Meeting of the Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Program (GSLEP).

According to the agency’s statement, Mr. Khalis stated that this is the first time a delegation from the Islamic Emirate is participating in this regional conference since the IEA’s return to power.

He added that the meeting will be held on June 5–6, 2025, in Kyrgyzstan and will bring together senior officials, experts, and representatives from twelve countries that are natural habitats of the snow leopard.

The Afghan delegation is expected to present information about national conservation efforts in the mountainous regions of Badakhshan and Nuristan and share existing challenges with relevant countries.
