Mullah Hamdullah Fetrat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, stated that the earthquake in Kunar province has claimed 1,457 lives and injured 3,394 people.
He added that the number of homes destroyed in the affected areas has risen to 6,782.
Fetrat noted that most villages in the affected areas have now received coverage and essential aid.
He confirmed that international rescue teams have arrived in Kunar and that access roads to the earthquake-affected areas have been reopened.
Fetrat emphasized that all government authorities are working actively to deliver relief and support to those affected.
