Emmanuel Macron, President of France, has stated that the United States can no longer be regarded as a reliable ally, calling on European countries to strengthen their self-reliance in protecting their interests.
He noted that during the first presidential term of Donald Trump, many European countries believed the situation would be temporary. However, he added that this perception has since changed.
Macron stressed that coordinated action among European countries is essential to effectively safeguard their shared interests, adding that confidence in the United States as a dependable partner has significantly declined among many Europeans.
These remarks come amid growing criticism from the United States of the European Union’s limited engagement in the Iran–United States conflict.
