Reuters reported that Europe is expected to face a significant jet fuel shortage in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the gap between supply and demand projected to reach around 510,000 barrels per day.
According to the report, disruptions to energy supplies in the Middle East caused by the war in Iran have affected Europe’s jet fuel imports, prompting European buyers to turn to alternative sources to meet demand.
Europe has increased jet fuel imports from South Korea, Nigeria, the United States and Canada. In September, jet fuel shipments from South Korea to Europe were estimated at around 129,000 barrels per day, the highest level since October 2022.
Reuters also reported that jet fuel inventories at the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp oil hub had fallen to their lowest level in seven years as of September 10.
