The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) has announced a series of decisions aimed at facilitating the distribution, verification, and correction services of ID cards for citizens.

According to a statement sent to the Voice of Hindukush, Afghan citizens living abroad will now be able to receive services for ID and birth certificate issuance, verification, and correction in person based on their valid documents (birth certificate, passport, residency card, license, and ID card), in accordance with the in-person decision process.

The statement added that, based on decision number 8 of the NSIA leadership board, starting from the beginning of fiscal year 1404, no correction services will be provided for distributed ID cards except for spelling errors, unless justified reasons exist.

The authority also mentioned that any errors made by staff in issued ID cards will be corrected at the same issuing office.

In provincial offices, age correction based on supporting documents is permitted for up to three years, and for individuals with multiple ID cards, age correction is also allowed up to three years. In central correction committees, age correction is allowed up to five years; beyond that, it requires higher approval.

Furthermore, the correction of a father’s and grandfather’s name, age, and original residence for a second time, or according to newly emerging foreign cases, will not be permitted.

NSIA assured that it is committed to creating necessary facilities in delivering related services to citizens.
