Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Mr. Amir Khan Muttaqi has met with India’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vikram Misri in the United Arab Emirates. In this meeting, both sides reached agreements on humanitarian aid, bilateral relations, and developmental projects. India’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, also stated that comprehensive discussions were held on bilateral relations, the regional security situation, and humanitarian aid during this meeting.
India is a strategic ally and a close country to Afghanistan. Afghanistan and India have maintained close relations since the time of Timur Shah and later Shah Zaman. Whenever the British and French invaded India, their hopeful eyes would turn towards Afghanistan; because Afghanistan is the graveyard of great empires, with a proud and heroic nation.
After a long time, India still considers Afghanistan the best option and gives priority to its political stability, security, economic cooperation, and good relations.
Apart from the Salma Dam, Afghans will never forget the benefits of the Chabahar port. India has often extended its hand to help Afghanistan and has implemented economic projects alongside infrastructure projects; whenever neighboring countries closed their doors to Afghanistan’s transit and wanted fresh fruits and vegetables to spoil, India transported fresh fruits and vegetables to the markets of India and the region through the air corridor.
According to a report by the Economic Times, India assured the officials of the caretaker government in the year 1401 AH of its support for modernizing the financial system. Additionally, it has allocated dozens of scholarships to Afghan students each year, and hundreds of young people are studying at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels in the country’s prestigious universities.
In the military sector, it has graduated hundreds of young people, who are now serving in professional roles within the Ministries of Defense and Interior.
Analysts currently consider such visits highly beneficial for both countries, as Afghanistan and India have remained very close economically, politically, and security-wise, and these visits will further strengthen their ties. To further solidify these relations, India recently accepted an Afghan diplomat for the General Consulate in Mumbai, and he has officially begun his duties.
Experts in economic, political, and security fields consider India’s assistance to Afghanistan as sincere and important for strengthening bilateral relations, given the interdependence of their needs. They urge the caretaker government to take effective steps to continue these relations.
