Jamaat-e-Islami Leader Mushtaq Ahmad Khan: Sending Pakistani Troops to Gaza Betrays the Islamic Ummah’s Stance and Is a Matter of Deep Shame

Senior Jamaat-e-Islami leader and former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan has strongly condemned the reported deployment of Pakistani troops to Gaza under Israeli command, describing it as a deeply regrettable and shameful development. He launched a fierce critique of Pakistan’s leadership, condemning the decision as reckless, unilateral, and devoid of public accountability.

“Where is ISPR’s voice? Why is the Foreign Ministry silent?” Khan asked, expressing alarm over the lack of public consultation and institutional transparency surrounding the move.

Mushtaq Ahmad Khan drew attention to remarks by the U.S. Secretary of State, who reportedly described Israel as feeling reassured by Pakistan’s troop deployment. Khan challenged the underlying motive, asking sharply: “Is our military being sent to Gaza to satisfy Israeli concerns? Whose agenda are we advancing?”

Referring to media reports, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan highlighted that Israel had reportedly blocked Turkey’s involvement due to its perceived sympathy toward Hamas. “If that’s the case,” he said, “why is Pakistan’s military being allowed to participate? Are we being drawn into a joint U.S.-Israeli operation targeting Hamas? The government must clearly state whether this mission is intended to disarm Hamas.”

Khan further warned that the formation of such a force could lead to direct engagement between Pakistani and Israeli troops, an outcome he described as deeply troubling.

“This move contradicts the Islamic Ummah’s longstanding position,” he stated, urging the government to clearly outline the mission’s scope and objectives. He called for transparency on whether the matter would be presented to Parliament and subjected to formal approval.

Denouncing the government’s silence, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan asserted, “Make no mistake, the outdated maneuvers of the Shams Junajo era no longer hold sway. The chapter of Trump-style submission has closed. The people deserve the unvarnished truth. Palestine belongs entirely to the Palestinians, and Al-Quds Al-Sharif remains their everlasting capital.”

Israel’s Ministry of Defense has reportedly outlined plans to deploy Pakistani troops to Gaza under its direct operational framework a move that has sparked widespread concern and controversy.
