Afghanistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held an introductory meeting with Bruno Lemarqui, the newly appointed Deputy Head of Mission and Humanitarian Coordinator of UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lemarqui presented his views on humanitarian assistance and approaches to improving its effective management.
Mr. Muttaqi stressed that in addition to humanitarian aid, priority should be given to the implementation of development and infrastructure projects. He added that the Afghan authorities will continue cooperation with the United Nations in this regard.
The new UNAMA deputy expressed appreciation to the Foreign Minister and pledged to fully carry out his responsibilities.
He also stressed the importance of expanding engagement and strengthening cooperation in various sectors.
