The Ministry of Justice announced that the Joint Committee for Housing Rent Control, formed under its leadership comprising representatives from the Police Command, Intelligence Directorate, Municipality, and other relevant authorities has convened its inaugural meeting.

The committee resolved that landlords are prohibited from increasing housing rents by more than 10 percent compared to the 1403 solar hijri year rates. Any rent hikes exceeding this limit will result in legal prosecution.

Furthermore, the committee declared that rental agreements drafted on plain paper or informal notebooks will be deemed invalid for official purposes. Such contracts must be promptly registered in accordance with formal transaction procedures.

The Joint Committee emphasized its commitment to strict oversight of rental agreements and pledged to take decisive action against any violations of the rent increase regulations.
