The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum says that in the gold mines of Shahr-e Buzurg, Yawan, Kohistan, Raghistan, Khwahan, and Arghanjkhah districts of Badakhshan province, more than 100,000 people have been provided with direct and indirect employment opportunities.

According to the ministry, the operation of the gold mines has not only created jobs for the people but has also significantly improved the economic situation of the region.

Many local residents who previously faced unemployment and economic difficulties are now earning daily income for their livelihoods through these projects.

According to published information, through the social services of the mining contracting companies in Badakhshan province, work has so far begun on 17 development projects worth 223 million Afghanis. These include, in addition to five major bridges over the Kokcha River, road construction, water supply networks, public services, and other infrastructure projects.

The leadership of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has emphasized that the legal extraction and transparent management of the country’s mineral resources are among their priorities, so that on one hand the national economy is strengthened, and on the other hand, sustainable benefits are delivered to people living around the mines.
