The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that on October 7, the seventh session of the “Moscow Consultative Meeting on Afghanistan” was held in Moscow, bringing together senior officials and special representatives from Russia, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Participants stressed the importance of strengthening Afghanistan’s political, trade, and economic ties with regional countries and the international community, while supporting its active engagement on the global stage.

Regional countries reaffirmed their commitment to a sovereign, peaceful Afghanistan, free from terrorism and drug trafficking, and signaled their readiness to work with the Afghan government to bolster regional security.

The meeting further stressed the importance of providing continuous, impartial humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

On the sidelines, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held separate talks with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to explore ways to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation at both regional and international levels.

The Moscow Format Consultative Meeting remains a key diplomatic platform for addressing Afghanistan’s challenges, enabling regional countries to coordinate practical measures that support the country’s stability and foster cooperation.
