The Wall Street Journal has reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing greater political isolation at the United Nations than ever before, amid international criticism, domestic divisions, and strained relations with the United States.
According to the American newspaper, Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly at a time when domestic pressure on him had intensified ahead of Israel’s upcoming elections, while his disagreements with President Donald Trump had also increased.
The Wall Street Journal said Netanyahu wanted to meet with Trump in New York, but the meeting did not take place. The newspaper also noted growing criticism from Arab and other countries over Israel’s policies.
