In a shocking incident, a group of police officers in Lahore’s Mughalpura area allegedly stole cash and cigarettes from a local shop during a routine inspection.

According to Express News, the shop owner claimed that the officers took 130,000 Pakistani rupees from his cash register. While they later returned 55,000 rupees, they kept 75,000 rupees along with several packs of cigarettes before leaving for their station. Security camera footage reportedly captured the entire incident.

Transparency International has repeatedly ranked Pakistan’s police force among the most corrupt institutions in the country. Studies indicate that many Pakistanis distrust law enforcement due to widespread allegations of misconduct.

In recent years, reports of Pakistani police officers engaging in crimes such as theft, extortion, and bribery have become increasingly common, raising serious concerns about accountability within the force.
