Throughout its short history, Pakistan has treated war-torn and damaged Afghanistan with cruelty and oppression, taking advantage of every opportunity against it and always looking down on it. In the contemporary era and post-war Afghanistan, it has also exploited the commercial and economic opportunities of both countries and blocked or limited the path to progress, advancement, and even development for Afghanistan.
However, with the rule of current government, all of Pakistan’s past equations regarding this newly independent country changed, and in fact, its silent dominance and control faded away. It faced a new and independent political approach and outlook that is almost completely different from all past interactions and no longer shows any exploitative and one-sided openings for Pakistan.
Pakistan, unable to tolerate this reciprocal and accountable approach and still lost in the past, instead of adopting the right paths of relations and political conduct, strayed off the path and, thru overt and covert schemes and conspiracies, initially attempted to give this political game a different color by holding divisive meetings and inviting burned-out political figures from the republican era; however, it faced successive failures. Finally, it chose the path of direct confrontation and cowardly attacks, launching rockets toward residential areas and taking the lives of innocent people.
Pakistan was under the delusion that Afghanistan, like before, lacks the ability to retaliate or is shrouded in fear, and with a few cowardly attacks, it can turn the equations in its favor and become the winner of the life-and-death game between the two countries. But, the current government of Afghanistan values the territorial integrity of its country above all else and responds swiftly and decisively to foreign aggression.
For this reason, Pakistan has once again taken a step back and, by inviting the discredited figures and known individuals of the previous government, who are dependent on its intelligence and hypocritical interests, has held a meeting under the title “Unity and Trust,” seeking a different portrayal of the Afghan situation; meanwhile, even some of the former government defectors have rejected the invitation and refused to participate in this dirty game.
Apart from all this, there is no doubt that behind the scenes of these events, hidden hands are at work that do not want Afghanistan to play an important and influential role in political games or to achieve the peak of stability and independence, gaining the necessary power and authority to build a better future.
In the meantime, Pakistan is nothing more than a burned and disgraced pawn; a pawn that, by endangering the lives of innocents on both sides and depleting the national and natural resources of both geographies, only serves the interests of the enemies and plays the role of a scarecrow.
The tangible outcome of this meeting will not be more significant than other failed meetings in the past, and the departure of some invited guests indicates the gradual process of luring Afghan defectors into the fold of Pakistan’s interests by its security and intelligence agents.
