The Supreme Court of Afghanistan announced that a murderer was executed under divine law, Qisas (retributive justice) at Khost provincial sports stadium.
The statement identified the murderer as Mangal, who had shot and killed Abdul Rahman in Alishir District with a Kalashnikov rifle.
The case underwent thorough and repeated review by the primary, appellate, and Supreme courts before the leadership of the Islamic Emirate approved the Qisas ruling.
Implementing divine punishment on criminals, especially murderers, is widely regarded as a means to prevent serious crimes in society.
Previously, the Supreme Court has enforced Sharia-mandated punishments in several provinces, measures that have received widespread public support.
