The Deputy of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, stated in recent remarks that the ongoing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have arisen from Britain’s former colonial policy and the borders that were arbitrarily drawn.

He emphasized that the borders drawn during Britain’s colonial era without consulting the local people are the main source of the crises.

Medvedev added that London’s imperialist policies not only created historical problems but continue to negatively affect the region’s security and stability today.

Referring to the Disputed Durand Line, he said that the effects of Britain’s colonial policy must be eliminated.
