The Ministry of Interior has announced that security forces have seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition during search operations in Takhar, Baghlan, and Paktia provinces.

According to the ministry, counterterrorism officers from the Takhar police command conducted operations in the province’s capital and several districts. As a result, they confiscated eight Kalashnikov rifles, six pistols, one PK machine gun, one carbine, one American-made PK machine gun, 200 Kalashnikov rounds, seven RPG warheads, an anti-personnel mine, four hand grenades, and five Kalashnikov magazines.

Additionally, security forces in Baghlan seized 60 mortar shells and a firearm, while in Paktia, they discovered and confiscated an unspecified quantity of weapons and ammunition.

The ministry stated that all seized weapons and ammunition would be handed over to the Disbandment of Illegal Armed Groups (DIAG) program through a formal process.
