Germany’s Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) has reported a sharp decline in asylum applications in the first two months of 2025.

According to the office, 29,947 individuals applied for asylum in January and February, showing a 43.4% decrease compared to the same period last year.

The data shows that Syrian nationals made up the largest group of applicants, with nearly 8,000 asylum requests filed, followed by Afghan nationals in second place.
