Bangladeshi media reported that last night in Dhaka, the capital, protesters set fire to the offices of Prothom Alo and The Daily Star newspapers, inflicting substantial damage to the buildings.

Sources noted that tensions in Bangladesh escalated after news of Osman Hadi’s death began circulating.

Osman Hadi was the leader of a political platform called Inqilab Moncho and was regarded as a key figure in the country’s recent political developments. He was injured on December 12 during an election campaign in Dhaka and died of his injuries yesterday in Singapore.

Thousands of people took to the streets last night, demanding justice for his death and chanting slogans against both the government and the media.

The demonstrations turned violent, culminating in attacks on the offices of several major Bangladeshi newspapers, with protesters setting multiple buildings on fire.

Notably, many Bangladeshis have blamed India for Osman Hadi’s death and hold the country responsible for the ongoing unrest.
