“Resistance Council,” whose members consider themselves representatives of the people and defenders of the country’s freedom, has a long history of crimes and a dark past behind it. Most of the people gathered at this council are hated figures who were responsible for individual and collective crimes over the past few decades.

Although they issue statements about past events, they are themselves responsible for numerous crimes and bloody incidents. They exploited the fight against Russia to build a war economy, enriching themselves at the cost of people’s blood thru regional power after Russia’s defeat. During this period, thousands of families were displaced, children were deprived of education, and the country’s basic infrastructure fell victim to their lust for power.

The “Resistance Council” was formed after 2021 by former political, military, and intelligence figures who held high positions during the fallen republic. The majority of them are former commanders of the civil wars and were responsible for killing innocent people, kidnapping women, and looting property in Kabul and other provinces during the civil wars.

Senior officials of the mentioned council are involved in crimes of corruption, seizure of state property, and mafia-ization of the judicial system during the fallen republic. During the fallen republic, some members of this council were also involved in the killings of their political rivals and activists, and targeted killings of journalists, civil society activists, and tribal leaders were often carried out by security forces under their control.

Today, the council is trying to portray itself as a defender of the people’s rights and a victim of the current situation thru its statements, blaming past crimes on others and, with the help of some foreign countries, attempting to accelerate efforts toward legitimacy.

The members of the Council chose the slogan of “Resistance” to justify their crimes. They are trying to gain a veneer of legitimacy in the eyes of the public and play the role of the victim in the media to fight against the current situation. This is a well-known tactical tool for them to distort and make people forget their past dark history. They are trying to blame others for the civil wars and portray themselves as innocent.

There are also examples in history where the people have successfully united against criminal groups, and this is an important experience for the Afghan people as well. This is a new chapter in the hidden stories behind the name “Resistance Council.” If the people don’t learn from the lessons of the past, these same figures will also be the cause of a new crisis tomorrow.
