The noble people of Afghanistan lived under the toxic shadow of the occupying government for twenty years, forced to endure various calamities and disasters, experiencing them firsthand, with their families and loved ones sacrificing their lives.
In the past, the bitter and unfortunate events in Afghanistan were so numerous and frequent that hearing news of killings, deaths and mourning became a normal and daily occurrence.
Sometimes, even seeing and hearing such news would neither bring tears to our eyes nor create sorrow in our hearts. It was rather thought that “today it was their turn, not ours. Maybe tomorrow we will be in their place, die and become the hot news of that day, nothing more.”
All this misery was also the result of the extensive presence of foreign military forces and the rule of their mercenaries and slaves in the former government; those who sacrificed the lives of the people for the purposes of their masters and their personal desires, and by selling the blood of the nation, made their own pockets heavier.
Now that, in pursuit of a grand and national transformation and the expulsion of foreigners and occupiers, they have fled their homeland and each has taken refuge in the arms of their masters, they beat the drum of patriotism and, forgetting their not-so-distant past and their dark records, have become defenders of the homeland and the nation.
This foolish behavior is termed “behavioral and verbal duality” in psychotherapy. An individual in this state, without acknowledging their past and the actions they have taken towards themselves and others—whether right or wrong—presents new performances and results. It is as if they believe their past has no impact on their current actions and words, or will have none, and no one will notice what they have done in the past.
The opponents seem to have fallen into the trap of this very disease and have either forgotten their heinous deeds of the past or have looked past them with a wise yet foolish gaze. Now, from outside the country, they prescribe a version of reform, transformation and renewal for the inside and call for inciting the people against the “caretaker government.”
But they do not know that the honorable people of Afghanistan will no longer blindly follow their words and alleged claims and will not recklessly fall into the pit of deception.
Sometimes, numerous mistakes and countless errors put a person in a predicament where they no longer know where they are, what they are doing, or how they are moving forward. They become trapped in repetition, monotony and rhetoric, without considering the consequences of their past, present, or future actions.
The opponents are currently in this sensitive phase. Having lost all their past false job positions, they have lost control and each day move forward more bewildered in the circle of confusion.
But they should know that the people will not heed their commands once again and neither they nor their words will hold any value in the hearts of the people.
