U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that starting from the first day of August this year, a 30% tariff will be imposed on imported goods from Europe and Mexico.
According to reports, Trump has warned that if these countries take retaliatory action, the tariffs will be increased further.
Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called the decision “inappropriate” and warned that the move would further harm trade relations between the U.S. and Europe.
She added that the European Union is ready to continue discussions with the Trump administration on the issue, but will also take appropriate retaliatory action if necessary.
