NBC News has learned from two senior Trump administration officials that the U.S. Department of Defense is developing plans to withdraw American forces from Syria.
The identities of the officials remain undisclosed. Other reports indicate that the U.S. may aim for a full withdrawal, a process expected to take up to three months.
