A few days had passed since the politicians of the overthrown republic regime had calmed down and become disillusioned with their first master, America, when the US President – despite his narcissistic personality and the true nature of his ramblings being hidden from no sane person – spoke again and mentioned retaking Bagram Air Base.

The infamous escapees, who are grasping at any old rope to save themselves from the dustbin of history, this time took heart from Trump’s irrational words and were pleased with the reoccupation of their country. Some even went further, crossing the boundaries of honor and dignity, and declared themselves ready for any cooperation toward the reoccupation of Afghanistan by America.

But what was clear from the beginning to the wise was America’s inability to start a new war, especially in a country that, after twenty years of fighting in collaboration with over forty other countries, had tasted the bitter taste of defeat. How could America possibly dream of military occupation in Afghanistan again?

Despite this incident, the infamous republic fugitives, just as they were deceived by Trump’s election slogans about reclaiming remaining American weapons from the current Afghan government during the US presidential election and believed those hollow claims despite the reality, this time too, like thirsty people in search of a drop of water, considered Trump’s mirage-like words to be true and dreamed every nite of returning to Afghanistan under American protection.

Although the uproar created subsided after a few days, and even media opposed to the current Afghan government confirmed that the US would not invade Afghanistan to retake Bagram Air Base, seriously dismissing all rumors about it, politicians from the collapsed Republic regime seem unwilling to wake up and open their eyes to the current reality in Afghanistan.

Interestingly, although many former administration officials have abandoned this discussion and accepted that Trump’s slogan of “taking back” and his empty threats were nothing more than a bluff, some are still trying to fan the flames of this false rumor by recounting fictional stories and adventures. For example, in the most recent case, Najib Azad, the former spokesperson for the Kabul administration, claimed that the Taliban government had handed over Bagram Air Base to the US according to the contract and that US special forces were on the move.

In response to these rumors and other claims that the US has begun practical operations to retake Bagram, some media outlets, citing the US Department of Defense and a diplomatic source, wrote that the US has no forces in Afghanistan and strongly denies the rumors about Bagram.

On the other hand, the Afghan government’s decisive response and clear stance completely dispelled the few speculations that considered the possibility of the US returning to Bagram Air Base, and anyone with even a little credibility in the media emphasized the impossibility of this happening.

Therefore, when Najib Azad once again mentioned Bagram and the claim of American forces moving toward Afghanistan, the media, political analysts, and even anyone with a little knowledge, this time, instead of logical political discussions, mostly ridiculed this claim.

In conclusion, it can be said that relying on illusions and rumors is not only not a remedy for the wounds of past failures, but also plunges them further into the quagmire of ignorance and dependence.

Indeed, the reality of Afghanistan today is nothing but political independence, national sovereignty, and complete severance of dependence on foreigners; a truth that yesterday’s fugitives have yet to accept.
