Resistance Front; A Fictional Collection of Commitment to Personal and Foreign Interests

With the defeat of the American invasion and the collapse of the republic in Afghanistan, a group called the Resistance, led by Ahmad Massoud, claims to be sympathetic to Afghanistan and its people. However, in reality, they are committed to foreign interests. Just as they do not have a presence among the people, they also lack legitimacy and credibility.

Support from foreign intelligence organizations for this group creates the perception among the people that the resistance front has always worked for foreign agendas, not for Afghanistan’s national interests; this front has no credibility in Afghanistan due to its previous foreign suppor

Members of the Resistance Front, who are mostly from the former Northern Alliance’s dark and espionage figures, took advantage of the foreign presence during the foreign invasion and sold Afghanistan under the shadow of the Bonn Conference. They also collaborated militarily, politically, and intelligence-wise with the invaders to continue their atrocities, and through this, they seized power while simultaneously paving the way for corruption, ethnic discrimination, tyranny, and the looting of the nation’s wealth.

The Resistance Front, which had portrayed itself as powerful through propaganda and also thought it would also be developed in the practical field, on the contrary, lacked popular support, military strength, and public legitimacy. The people understood that this group survives with foreign assistance, and the general perception was that the Resistance Front has no legitimate foundation; rather, it is a collection of power-hungry individuals and former corrupt officials who throw themselves at the feet of foreigners to gain power.

The withdrawal of the invaders from Afghanistan in 2021 was a catastrophe for the Resistance Front because it meant the loss of their twenty-year gains, positions, and resources, and the cessation of funding for foreign projects, contracts, and aid. The warlords gathered under the banner of the Resistance Front had no fundamental power without foreign support; they had come to power through the force of American might, and with the departure of the foreigners, all their resources dried up.

Recently, the Resistance Front has started efforts to get closer to the United States and has begun praising the regime of that country. This praise is not for the Afghan nation and national interests but rather for personal motives and to gain foreign support. They are trying to make themselves relevant and keep alive their hidden hopes of returning to power. They are taking advantage of the change in the U.S. policy and trying to present themselves as an alternative, but these efforts are fruitless.
