A technical delegation from the Afghan government, led by Abdulqahar Balkhi, traveled to Brussels. This trip signifies an achievement in the path of diplomatic and technical relations between Kabul and the European Union, indicating that realism is gradually replacing political aloofness. The visit of this official delegation essentially conveys the message that the Afghan government is now recognized as a reality that cannot be ignored by any party. This meeting was an opportunity for Afghanistan to discuss issues related to refugees, consular services, and other necessary matters.

In response to the mentioned visit, the movements and negative propaganda of some former figures abroad, under the guise of protests, largely revolve around pursuing personal and political interests. While the country needs stability and extensive diplomatic, economic, and political relations with the world, the opponents, on the contrary, oppose all of this, demanding Afghanistan’s isolation and the continuation of the people’s problems. The most logical response for the country’s opponents is that they cannot deal with the fate and problems of millions of Afghans in European and other countries, nor can they become an obstacle to their resolution; because noise and slogans can never replace real solutions, but it is the governments that take action to solve problems.

Today’s world has become closer than ever and has taken on the form of a village, where no country can live in isolation. Afghanistan, as a very important and strategic part of this global village, must connect with the world, and the world also needs it. The demand of this global community is to work in the spirit of understanding and mutual interaction instead of the policies of past experiences and pressure, so that the shared concerns of all parties can be addressed.

On the other hand, hundreds of thousands of Afghans are settled across Europe, who face severe hardships every day in renewing passports, obtaining documents, and other paperwork. Consular service is the primary and human right of the people, which should not be sacrificed for political purposes. The Afghan delegation’s visit to Brussels made it clear that the only correct way to solve the real problems of the Afghan people is to engage in direct dialog with the responsible institutions of the Afghan government.

Recently, the sending of Afghan government’s new diplomats to Germany is another very important and hopeful step. Berlin has indeed realized that there is no practical alternative to addressing Afghan issues and managing major matters such as security and migration without the official addresses of Afghanistan. Germany’s decision opens the way for a constructive model for the rest of Europe as well.

Such diplomatic movements not only provide facilities for Afghans living abroad but also create an environment for building greater trust between Afghanistan and the West. The sustained continuity and progress of this process is only possible thru constructive relationships, mutual respect, and understanding the people’s issues, which will ultimately benefit both sides.
