Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed a one-year contract worth approximately $2.8 million with Tatarstan-based TNG Company to provide monitoring and consultancy services for the Amu Darya oil basin, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said the contract is aimed at increasing oil production in the Amu Darya basin and strengthening related operations.
The ministry also announced the signing of a separate $11 million contract to build oil processing facilities at the Zamarud Say Block. The first phase of the project is expected to take eight months to complete.
Once completed, the processing system will have the capacity to process 2,000 tons of oil per day.
