Reports state that Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen, an al-Qaeda-linked East African group, has settled a long-standing dispute between the Murusdi and Waisli clans in Somalia through the payment of blood money (diya).
According to the decision, the Murusdi clan paid compensation equivalent to 324 camels, valued at nearly $189,216, to the Waisli clan over the killing of three individuals and injuries to several others.
In return, the Waisli clan also paid compensation for injuries caused to the opposing side, valued at 12 camels, or approximately $6,720.
Meanwhile, leaders of both clans welcomed the ruling, calling it “Sharia-based” and an important step toward achieving lasting peace.
