The Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Sergei Lebedev, has strongly criticized the policy of isolating Afghanistan, stating that such an approach has proven ineffective.

He emphasized that Afghanistan’s active participation in regional economic, transit, and security projects is essential for ensuring long-term stability across Eurasia.

Lebedev added that the organization’s member states have adopted a practical and realistic approach toward Afghanistan and have maintained economic, transit, and security relations with the Islamic Emirate.

The CIS Secretary General also said that expanding these areas of cooperation could contribute to strengthening regional security and enhancing economic connectivity across the region.
