The Ministry of Water and Energy has officially launched the second phase of the Baghdara Dam project in Parwan, following a contract signed with a Chinese company. The project will be completed in three phases.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Acting Minister of Water and Energy Mawlawi Abdul Latif Mansoor detailed that the dam would have a generating capacity of over 226 megawatts, with a total cost of 562 million dollars.
Mr. Mansoor further stated that the project’s completion will provide permanent employment opportunities for more than 22,560 people.
The representative of the contracting company also emphasized the importance of the dam’s electricity for the Mes Aynak project, stating that a significant portion of the power expected to be allocated there.
The dam is expected to be completed within seven years.
