The Ministry of Public Works has announced the launch of construction on the Panjshir–Takhar road, a project valued at over 451 million Afghanis. The initiative is part of a broader national plan aimed at strengthening economic development and advancing reconstruction efforts.
According to the ministry, the road will extend for 25 kilometers, beginning in the Khawak area of Paryan district in Panjshir province and ending in Warsaj district of Takhar province.
The ministry stated that the project is expected to generate employment opportunities for a number of local residents during its implementation. Upon completion, the road will also reduce travel distance between the northeastern provinces and Kabul.
Officials have identified the Panjshir–Takhar route as an alternative to the Salang Highway, noting that it will ensure smoother and faster movement of people while also supporting the expansion of trade and broader economic activity.
