In an analytical report, Economic Times stated that the current closeness of Pakistan’s military regime with the United States is a dangerous dual game that is directly undermining Islamabad’s strategic relations with China.
The report adds that this approach not only erodes Beijing’s trust but, in the event of failure, could expose Pakistan’s military regime to severe diplomatic humiliation and defeat on the global stage.
The source further emphasized that Beijing is closely and skeptically monitoring any new arrangement between Washington and Islamabad.
Referring to the historically close ties between Beijing and Islamabad, the report notes that the new stance of Pakistan’s military regime could have serious and irreversible consequences for Pakistan’s economy and security, both of which heavily rely on China.
Economic Times also wrote that given Pakistan’s weak economy and internal challenges, such an imbalanced power play by the ruling military regime carries the risk of a major strategic loss rather than any potential benefit.
The report concludes that Pakistan’s military regime now faces a critical choice that could subject the country to serious global challenges and diplomatic isolation.
