In today’s world, all countries have political, economic, and cultural relations with each other. No country can independently oversee and control its current and prevailing situation without having relations with other countries; rather, it must pay attention to its environment and surroundings and, by making correct and beneficial decisions, find a way to improve and progress through cooperation with neighboring countries and the world.
Countries are, in fact, like a strong and coordinated chain that can function optimally when they are together, each striving in its own way for its prosperity and growth. To reach this level of functionality in the global system, there must be individuals with a sound political and economic understanding at the helm of the country’s administration, so they can effectively utilize every opportunity and lead their country to comprehensive development.
To achieve this goal, each country has two important opportunities for success in governance: first, the natural and geographical position of the country, which determines the extent of its natural resources and how much it can contribute to strengthening the economic foundation; and second, the method of selecting and appointing individuals to manage these resources in the pursuit of the country’s progress and civilization, which is even more important than the first.
If a country succeeds in these two areas and the results of correct decision-making are visible in the face and appearance of society, it becomes clear that things are on the right track and the country is in a suitable position in the global competition arena. Such a country can conquer great peaks in a short time.
Afghanistan, a country in Asia with a favorable geographical position and promising prospects politically, economically, and naturally, has always been the center of attention for governments and the focal point of civilizations throughout history. Its mines, natural resources, and human capital have never been exhausted and have always been ready to assist others. But in the contemporary period, especially during the twenty years of occupation by the United States and its allies, it turned into an unstable and wandering country; despite having abundant resources and brilliant talents, it never took a step towards prosperity. Even with receiving millions and billions of dollars in aid and despite numerous international loans, it could not repair its most basic worn-out structures.
If examined more closely, the root of all these failures lay in the incompetence of the individuals at the top of the power structure and the inefficacy of the hollow republican governance system; a system that, instead of moving towards the realization of national and popular ideals, was heading towards the expansion of embezzlement, the plundering of public assets, and the promotion of corruption and betrayal in offices and ministries.
These two factors (the appointment of incompetent individuals to positions of power and the implementation of a failed and corrupt administrative system) led to the economic collapse of the country and ultimately the downfall of the republican system.
The successive economic collapses and the country’s deviation from the path of progress were clear signs of the incompetence of those in power. The structure of power was not based on meritocracy but rather on ethnic and financial connections; everyone either brought their relatives into the system or bought a position for themselves by paying large sums of money.
The chaotic state of the country and the loss of control were the result of biased and treacherous decisions that ultimately led to the collapse of the decaying palace of the republic. Those who lacked the competence and capacity to govern were removed from their positions of power and left the country.
After passing through that dark phase of occupation and plunder, Afghanistan has now rejuvenated in recent years. Things are moving towards great and positive goals, and in the past four years, fresh blood has been coursing through the political and economic veins of the country.
All of these are clear evidence of the proper use of the country’s natural resources and the presence of qualified and dedicated individuals at the helm of administration, because to judge, one must look at the results; results that are tangible within the community, whose benefits are injected into the body of the country, and where hope and security have emerged within the structure of the system.
So, any illogical and baseless words do not diminish the value of positive achievements or lower their standing. People no longer fall for empty words and know well who is right and who, behind the enemy’s lines, speaks ambiguous and malicious words with ulterior motives.
