Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior launched a rapid DNA identification system for the first time, marking a significant advancement in the country’s forensic and criminal investigation capabilities.
In a statement, the ministry noted the new system will strengthen scientific criminal investigations, improve the accurate identification of suspects and offenders, and enhance the reliability of forensic evidence.
The system was officially inaugurated at the DNA Management Unit and the Biological Laboratory of the Criminal Technical Directorate. The ceremony was attended by Director General of the Administrative Affairs, Mawlawi Noorulhaq Anwar, the Ministry of Interior’s Administrative Deputy, Mawlawi Rahmatullah Najib, and several other senior officials.
The ministry added that the rapid DNA identification system will increase the accuracy of criminal investigations, support the scientific identification of suspects and offenders, help safeguard the rights of innocent people, and provide courts and judicial authorities with reliable, scientifically backed forensic evidence.
According to the ministry, the launch of the advanced system marks an important step toward strengthening Afghanistan’s forensic capabilities and improving the effectiveness of the country’s justice system.
