Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced that 1,099 Afghan refugees were released from Pakistani prisons this week and returned to Afghanistan via the Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings.
According to the ministry, 896 of the returnees entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province, while the remaining 203 returned via Spin Boldak in Kandahar province. The returnees included both families and single individuals who had been detained in Pakistan for various reasons.
Upon their return, the refugees were registered at reception centers, received humanitarian assistance, and were assisted in returning to their home areas.
The ministry affirmed its commitment to continue supporting returning Afghan refugees in coordination with the Afghan government, describing their release from Pakistani prisons and return home as an opportunity to rebuild their lives.
