Russia launched a wave of ballistic missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, early Thursday, with multiple explosions reported across the city.
Kyiv Mayor said ballistic missiles had targeted the capital and urged residents to take shelter. Reuters also reported a series of explosions as the attacks unfolded.
The strikes came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing to launch a large-scale aerial attack.
