Novosti news agency reported that Sudan’s army has rejected a U.S. backed ceasefire proposal, with army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan ordering major strikes against militias during an emergency meeting.

Meanwhile, the army’s deputy commander affirmed that operations would continue until militias are expelled of all areas under their control.

Militias supported by the United Arab Emirates praised Abu Dhabi’s backing, noting that the UAE and several other countries are playing a constructive role in efforts to end the war.

In recent days, UAE-backed militias have carried out massacres in the Sudanese city of El Fasher, leaving hundreds dead, including women and children.
