A statement issued by the Arg says that Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, separately assessed the conditions of the central prisons in Kapisa and Parwan provinces during his visit to the two provinces.

According to the statement, in the presence of the governors of both provinces and officials of the central prisons, Hanafi reviewed the prisons’ administrative and educational activities, healthcare and food services, discipline, and other areas.

He also visited various sections of the detention centers and prisons and, during meetings with prisoners, listened to their concerns and suggestions.

Hanafi stressed improving food and healthcare services, ensuring hygiene, and providing prisoners with opportunities for education and vocational training.

He further said that officials are obliged to treat prisoners in accordance with the principles of Islamic Sharia and human rights and to address their problems promptly and appropriately.
