The U.S. Department of Justice has announced the arrest of Jamshid Qoumi, an Iranian-American businessman holding dual U.S. and Iranian citizenship, who serves as chief executive of a technology company based in Iran.

Authorities allege that Qoumi violated U.S. sanctions on Iran by acquiring advanced U.S-made networking, security, and encryption equipment for Iranian clients, including nuclear and military institutions linked to the Iranian government.

U.S. officials state that the 63-year-old businessman sold American-made computer networking components in Iran and generated millions of dollars in breach of U.S sanctions laws.

He faces the possibility of a prison sentence if convicted, while authorities are also pursuing the seizure of his assets.
