The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs said that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar met with Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs’ Office said that the meeting covered the situation in the region, Afghanistan’s progress in the areas of good governance and infrastructure, and investment opportunities for foreign companies.
Khalilzad said that a number of companies from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Azerbaijan, and Norway are interested in investing in Afghanistan, particularly in the exploration and extraction of oil and gas.
Baradar welcomed investment by foreign companies and said that the Islamic Emirate has provided the necessary facilities for investors and is ready to cooperate with and support them.
