From Nationalist to Anti-Nation Tribune; Lewal Announces Regular Program with Afghanistan International

Abdul Ghafour Lewal, the former ambassador of the fallen republic in Iran, says he has reached an agreement with Afghanistan International to host a program aimed at promoting literature, history, sociology, and national culture. The deal comes at a time when the channel has consistently referred to the disputed Durand Line as a “border” since the Pakistan–Afghanistan war, and has aired programs openly critical of Islamic and Afghan values.

During the fallen republic, Lewal launched a party called “Developed Afghanistan” under the banner of nationalists and intellectuals. Its stated purpose was to distort history, national culture, and religious beliefs. Key members of the party held senior government posts, which they used to advance efforts to undermine Islamic and Afghan values.

Over the past four years, Since the Afghan government returned to power, the party lost its influence and its activities came to an end. The party’s leader has now revived this agenda through a media outlet, backed by certain regional and international actors, that is widely seen as hostile to Afghanistan’s history, national culture, and literature, and dedicated to their distortion.
